WordPress Maintenance

Direct answer: a WordPress without maintenance deteriorates silently: obsolete extensions, open vulnerabilities, site that slows down, then crashes on a busy morning. A serious contract costs between 300 and 1,200 MAD per month depending on the size of the site.
Maintenance is the item that customers cut first and regret the most. Here's what it actually covers, and what happens without it.
What does a real maintenance contract cover?
In short: Tested updates, outsourced backups, uptime monitoring, security patches and a volume of hours for small requests.
- Updates. WordPress core, plugins and theme — tested on a pre-production environment before being applied in production.
- Backups. Daily, stored off-server, with tested restoration.
- Monitoring. Alert if the site falls, with intervention during the day.
- Security. Patches applied quickly, monitoring of intrusion attempts.
- Small modifications. A monthly volume of hours to change a price, add a page, correct a text.
- Report. A monthly update on what has been done.
If a contract does not mention the staging environment, be wary: applying an update directly to production is the main cause of broken sites.
What happens without maintenance?
In short: Flaws accumulate, extensions become incompatible, the site slows down, and one day an automatic update breaks everything.
The scenario we see most often: a site delivered three years ago, never updated. The customer is calling because the site is displaying a blank error.
At this point, the upgrade costs more than three years of maintenance: the extensions are so late that successive updates break one after the other.
Another common consequence: infection by robots that scan vulnerable versions. The site starts redirecting to unwanted pages, Google reports it, and SEO collapses.
Can we do without WordPress to avoid all this?
In short: Yes, and this is often the best answer for a showcase website: a static site has no exposed database or extension to maintain.
This is our recommendation for the majority of showcase sites: a static architecture eliminates almost all maintenance needs and security risks.
WordPress remains of interest when the client publishes frequently and wants to manage their content themselves, or when a specific ecosystem of extensions is needed.

What prices should you charge and what to watch out for?
In short: From 300 MAD per month for a showcase website to 1,200 MAD for a store. Be wary of offers at 100 MAD that cover nothing.
Questions to ask before signing a maintenance contract:
- Are updates tested in pre-production?
- Are backups stored off the server?
- How many modification hours are included?
- What is the guaranteed response time in the event of a breakdown?
- What happens if an update breaks the site?
A contract that does not answer these five questions is insurance without guarantee.

Frequently asked questions
What does a WordPress maintenance contract cover?
Updates tested in pre-production, outsourced backups, monitoring, security patches and a volume of hours for small modifications.
How much does WordPress maintenance cost in Morocco?
From 300 MAD per month for a showcase website to 1,200 MAD for an online store.
What is the risk of a site without maintenance?
Security breaches, bot infections, slowdown, and crashes during automatic updating.
Can I do the updates myself?
Yes, provided you save before and test. The risk is to apply an update that breaks an extension.
Why test in pre-production?
Because an update applied directly in production can break the site in front of your customers.
Does a static site require maintenance?
Much less: no database exposed, no extension to maintain. This is our recommendation for most showcase sites.
Is maintenance included with you?
Yes, twelve months on any site we deliver to. Then, an optional contract.
Are you taking over a site that you didn't make?
Yes, after a free audit to assess the actual condition of the site.
Is your WordPress up to date?
Free audit: versions, known flaws, backups. We tell you what is urgent.
